Build an RC battery pack - A basic How-To
If you like the RC, you know the importance of a battery. The type of battery you choose, as your package is put together and how it is efficient, invite all the important aspects to power the vehicle CR. Sure, you can purchase a battery pre-installed, but you can also create your own and get the satisfaction of the planning and provide your own vehicle.
The first thing you need to do is if you decide together is a battery pack, what and how much you turn theJuice you need. You must also consider the following:
1 Check the vehicle's chassis. The type of vehicle does not matter as much as the amount of space he has to maneuver. The batteries may need to focus in a flat box, a cluster-pack or as both. You should also think about the weight distribution of the vehicle - if the weight of the battery is in a side to side or redistributed forward. In some cases, your living space for aThe battery is not adjustable, so be aware of these limitations before you start.
2 Check the driving engine of the vehicle CR. Depending on performance needs to be able to determine the number of cells or batteries that you need. This also applies if you use the type of batteries you can decide - if you want to keep NiMH batteries or an upgrade to LiPo.
3 Determine the stress is really a simple matter of addition. 12 - A standard cell voltage 1.2 V, are connected in seriesBatteries up to 14.4 - 14.4 volts, which would power the electric motor RC.
Next, you must pick up your battery power - here's a sample shopping list. Remember, we assume we are creating a battery of 14.4 V, as in the previous example:
or 12 cells or batteries
or 12 bars of the battery (you can load indicator ordered in bulk if you have more to build a package and save $ floor)
It takes a superior caliber 12 with a large number of wire: wire o.This type of wire that are flexible with these characteristics that are ideal for efficient power transmission.
80-100 watts or welding gun. Do you want a gun because you can surely be more accurate and faster - this is necessary due to the heat sensitivity of the batteries. The faster and more specific the goal, the less likely you will damage the battery.
60/40 or welding. This is a superior quality - is also important to work quickly and precisely and to avoidBattery damage.
or Flux. It is a chemical cleaning agent that removes solder to facilitate the oxidation of the metal. They may be liquid or paste flux when installing a battery.
Shoo Goo or Goop or. This fast drying adhesive is used, combine to keep the batteries.
or Battery Assembly Jig - optional. These mounting devices are set correctly, the batteries and make a decent battery. The batteries in the end it seemed pretty much like cord wood - cleanbundle.
Welding or "Helping Hands" - optional. These devices allow you to keep things in place while you solder.
or Another option is to save time, get a "Helping Hands" accessory for your soldering station.
or multimeter. You need a good multimeter to check voltage and polarity.
o stripping drills. These tools allow you to avoid, cut and strip wire 12 gauge right.
o The final component is the shrink that go around the wholeMounting and keep it clean. You also need a heat gun to reduce the heat and wind.
So, you saw how to orient the batteries and the number you need - now get the mount. For this example, we want the 12-cell battery assembly - 6 on one side and the other 6.
Once you know where the batteries are in relation to the chassis is going and how they are going to be designed so you can start. For this example, we say we do 6 on one side and 6on the other side.
Just to be sure that we are on the same page, the ultimate goal here to run wire from the positive terminal of the first battery to the positive terminal of the RC electric motor and then a wire goes from the negative terminal of the battery pack in the last year with the positive terminal of the other battery, a complete circuit.
This means that you should have enough wire from the positive terminal of the first battery, the rangeCompletely and also from the negative terminal of the circuit with the battery power, so that in mind.
Orientation. Set up your first cell, so that shows positive "up" and is negative for the "bottom" and then turn to change the battery so that the next would be contrary to the line. If you purchased the battery mounting jig, this is where you should use to align your cells and maintain their place.
To hold. Stick all the batteries with quick-drying glue on themare in order and properly aligned.
Flux. Use your points now in Flux connection.
Connection - Use the battery bars to connect your phone. Need to warm up your soldering iron and heat until the battery bar. With the bar protects the battery and when the flow begins to boil, it takes the use of welding. The goal is to not heat the battery. The heating of the battery is not only counterproductive, because if you damage the battery, it will not work, but also dangerous, becausethe cell could explode if they overheat.
You want to complete the same procedure for remaining battery connections. Connect the negative to positive over and over again. So, you're ready to connect the cables to the battery.
The cables should be pre-box that means you have to remove an inch of the protective mantle wiring film to clean the river - the river are liberal - Heat the soldering iron and then heat the wire and the flow of the weldin the wire up to full saturation. He wants to act perpendicular to the batteries so the solder, as the plug with the battery.
Once the two, six-cell batteries are complete, you should use the shrink wrap to secure it - and you will get your full battery! You will now be able to feed and fly RC helicopter, plane, boat, car or truck without any problem!
