AH-64 Apache - The Modernized Combat Helicopter
The AH-64 Apache is known as the attack helicopter used by the military for their multi-mission attacks. It is developed by Boeing, the company who manufactures combat helicopters for defense forces in the United States, Netherlands and United Kingdom. The Apache is primarily used for high-value target destruction. There are three variants of AH-64 Apache, the AH-64A, the AH-64D next generation and the AH-64D Apache Longbow which is equipped with the advanced Longbow fire control radar.
The Apache has myriad of advanced attack manifestations. It is a specifically designed helicopter for defense forces with its modernized armor, artillery and speed. With the Apache helicopter, armies can flank and mount surprise attacks against their enemies in more destructive level than any other military helicopters. The AH-64 has advanced fire control system with lethal accuracy. In fact, it is possible to destroy 16 tanks in minutes. The Apache can also play the roles of either defensive standoff or offensive siege craft, able to set firepower on advancing forces with least exposure, and also able to set long range firepower on enemy defensive positions.
Moreover, it has high survivability level with its heavily armored sides. Some areas of the helicopter are also surrounded by Kevlar soft armor for extra protection. The cockpit is protected by layers of reinforced armor and bulletproof glass. According to Boeing, each part of the Apache can resist 12.7-mm rounds, and vital engine and rotor components can survive hits from 23-mm fire.
